Beautiful Memory Pictures
Why would it be important to provide your children with beautiful memory pictures?
I know that as I was growing up I have certain snapshots that I took with my memory that I have gone back to over and over again. When I was expecting my first child and took a Lamaze class the leader told us to make a safe place in our heads that we could go to when the labor got really intense.
I went to a field that was above my family's cabin in Fish Haven, Idaho in the Bear Lake Valley. It overlooks the lake and is one of the most peaceful places I know of. I have taken all of my children there and while we are there I tell them about their ancestors who settled the land and how hard it was ... but that every morning they got to get up and see this beautiful lake. It would remind them that the Lord loved them and that with him they could do anything.
We all need fields overlooking lakes to go to sometimes so that we can find ourselves and our God and know that we can face anything together.
